United Way Funding Priorities

United Way of North Central Iowa is a non-profit agency serving north central Iowa for 90 years. United Way of North Central Iowa is affiliated with United Way Worldwide. United Way of North Central Iowa invests in quality education, income and health programming that advance the common good for residents of twelve counties in north central Iowa. United Way of North Central Iowa utilizes the Community Impact Model to assess program success through outcome measurement. Under the Community Impact Model, United Way of North Central Iowa focuses its mission around three key impact areas of Education, FinancialStability and Health. By directing funding to programs that have the greatest impact in the specified areas, United Way is able to foster meaningful change in our community.

2017-2018 Venture Grant Funding

Applications for 2017-2018 Venture Grant funding will be accepted according to the following schedule:

Application Released: Friday, May 19, 2017

Application Due: Thursday, July 20, 2017, no later than 4:00 p.m.


Venture Grant Process

Funding applications will be reviewed by Venture Grant Committee to determine funding.  The Venture Grant comprised of volunteer community members who possess knowledge about community need.  Following the review process, the Venture Grant Committee will recommend funding decisions to the United Way of North Central Iowa Board of Directors. 


Award Notification

Awardees will be notified by the end of August 2017.


Instructions on how to apply:

Carefully read the Mission Statement and Grant Eligibility Requirements to determine eligibility and application requirements.  Download application and open in Word.  Fill out application and attach required documentation (note: text boxes will expand to fit type).  Submit four (4) copies and one e-copy to Jen Butler, Community Impact Director, United Way of North Central Iowa, 2911 4th St., P.O Box 1645, Mason City, IA 50401.

Connections Matching Funds Assistance

has been established to help provide the required match for local nonprofits applying to grant opportunities that require matching funds in order to apply.  Interested applicants and the associated grant for which they are applying for matching funds must align with at least one of United Way of North Central Iowa’s Impact Areas: Education, Income or Health.

Potential Applicants are encouraged to read Connections Matching Funds Assistance requirements and guidelines, to determine eligibility.  Applications will be accepted throughout the year as need occurs.  Dispersal of funds is dependent on the balance of the Connections Match Assistance fund.
