Session Three: Advocacy and Public Engagement

Nonprofit boards understand that public policy affects the work of their organization.  Advocacy is any behavior or action that speaks in support of, recommends, argues for or otherwise defends or pleads for a cause, mission, or organization that benefits others. In other words, it's using your voice to amplify what you and your organization are passionate about.

Materials include a podcast from nonprofitally.com and a short PowerPoint from BoardSource.

To complete this section, listen to the podcast and read the articles before moving onto our recorded interview with local board expert Mary Ingham.
