United Way Agencies Need Your Help

It is a great privilege to serve as the 2017 United Way Campaign Chair, a cause that our company Metalcraft, has supported several years. While I have been active in forming internal teams to support and raise funds for United Way, I lacked experience in funding and allocation to various agencies requesting support.

Earlier this year, I became involved as a community impact director for education allocation. This provided me an immediate understanding and appreciation of the need and impact United Way funding serves. The funding requests far outstripped the funds available, so the education committee simply prioritized to make the most significant impact. As a member of this committee, I appreciated and respected the individuals meeting with us to further explain their need and the number of lives positively impacted.

United Way of North Central Iowa which serves Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Franklin, Hancock, Kossuth, Mitchell, Winnebago and Worth counties, allocates support and funding in three main areas: education; financial stability; and health. I witness tremendous efforts by staff and the United Way of North Central Iowa Board to ensure positive direction of the agency and services in these three areas.

We are fortunate to have United Way serving our area, and I urge you to generously donate. If you are leading a company or organization, I encourage you to form a small team of members that are passionate about United Way; you will find your employees want to get involved and it is meaningful to them.

Helping our neighbors will build the strong communities that we desire and will continue to make North Iowa a unique place we call home. Live United!
