The United Way helps the community by distributing funds to existing organizations and determining where resources would be best spent. All of the donations are accounted for and you can even track or decide where your contribution goes.

Farmers: Donate grain to United Way
Donating grain to United Way is easy. Simply use a participating cooperative or elevator and and let them know how much you would like to donate when you come in for your scale ticket. They will take care of the rest! You'll also have an opportunity to learn more about all the great ways United Way is investing in your community at each location. Prescription Drug Discount Cards now available at United Way.
Through a partnership with the FamilyWize Community Service Project, United Way now has prescription drug discount cards available for families or individual without prescription drug insurance coverage. Cards will save an average of 20 - 40% off prescriptions and can simply be presented at participating pharmacies when a prescription is picked up. This is a free service and 21 north central Iowa pharmacies are voluntarily providing the savings. Contact United Way at 641-423-1774 to get your card. United Way is LOCAL.
- Every United Way is local and autonomous.
- We have our own local volunteer Board of Directors.
- The money we raise stays here in our 10-county region of north central Iowa. (The counties covered are: Butler, Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Franklin, Hancock, Kossuth, Mitchell, Winnebago, Worth, & Wright.) Click here for more information.
United Way is ACCOUNTABLE.
- The money is distributed through the Citizen’s Review Process- over 70 volunteers come together to review the requests for program funding and agencies and collectively decide where the money will give the greatest outcome and benefit for the community.
- All of our Partner Agencies send in reports quarterly for review on the progress of their funded programs.
United Way has a NETWORK of Partner Agencies.
We support over 50 different programs with 36 Partner Agencies. These programs fall under the following four focus areas:
